No One Can Do Everything, Everyone Can Do Something
Sometimes life doesn’t go the way you planned or wanted it. One of the things that gives me more strength is ‘inspiration’. I believe, being inspired to do better, to be better and to see things differently is one the greatest feelings I can have. Usually it’s just a simple quote with a meaningful message, sometimes it’s an article, a book,… but there are also people out there who are a source of inspiration. One of my inspirations is Christopher Gavigan. Christopher Gavigan is a well-known environmental health leader, former CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World, Author of ‘Healthy Child Healthy World – Creating a cleaner, greener safer home’, speaker, Founder and Chief product officer of The Honest Company, Board Member of the Mount Sinai Hospital’s Children Environmental Health Center, Chief Advisor to the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute,… respected and praised for the work he has done so far.
As someone who is a ’be green’ newbie and still trying to figure it all out, his bestseller book is a must-have. The first time I read the book, it was a wake-up call and in a way it was something I needed at that time. For me personally, this book is more than just a guide to create a healthy and safe environment, it also offers great D.IY., stories by parents,.. life advice. I’m not a parent (yet) but I really feel like this book has an impact on my life.
‘Don’t get overwhelmed. Instead take a deep breath and know that you have more control over the situation than you think and it’s never too late to start!’
Since it is Christopher’s birthday I wanted to thank him for the fact that he did influence my life without really knowing it. I consider him as a ‘green-health’ mentor, someone who shares his knowledge and definitely makes the world a better place. He has achieved so much and is continuously making a change. Admirable!
Christopher Gavigan was the CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World, one of the most trusted organizations in the environmental and children’s health field founded by Nancy and James Chuda. It’s a nonprofit organization inspiring parents to protect their children from harmful chemicals.
I was overly excited when ‘The Honest Company’ was being launched. For those of you who aren’t familiar with The Honest Company yet, it is a company that produces healthy, non-toxic, beautifully designed products for babies and for families, co-founded by Jessica Alba and Christopher Gavigan. It’s honest, transparent, giving, inspiring, empowering,…and a B Corporation. It’s impressive how it all started and where they are now!
“Everything I stand for and all I’ve done over the last 15 years has come to this moment. I’m thrilled to launch a brand that offers some of the most thoughtfully designed, innovative and safest products available.”
One of my favorite things about Honest is that they are ‘there for us’, it’s not just a company but it’s also a place where you can learn, ask questions,… It’s an honest platform with all the information you need about the products, production process,… The blog is an easy way to know more about the company, get answers to your questions, learn and to be even more part of the Honest family. If you are looking for fun gift ideas the ‘Friday Finds’ of Christopher might give you more original ideas.
The ‘Honest to Goodness’ part is the amazing giving story of Honest. They definitely are making a change and this part just proves it. They support organizations like Baby2Baby (supplies Los Angeles families in need with essential baby gear and clothing), Healthy Child Healthy World, Safer Chemicals, Food Forward, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles,…
Besides The Honest Company Christopher is also part of other projects, but related to his background. You can find informative videos on WebMD and ‘Kids In The House’. Christopher was also part of the movie ‘Unacceptable Levels’, a film about chemicals in our bodies and how they got there. Definitely worth checking out!
Congratulations and a very Happy Birthday Christopher!! This is only a small glimpse of what you have achieved so far, but it’s definitely something to be proud of! Thank You for sharing your knowledge, passion,… your dream. As you said on twitter recently “Change starts with people – no matter where you are. It’s about finding your passion, voice, & driving hard to change the paradigm!” The change you and Honest are making is impressive! Thank you!
